Tips for wearing spring 2018’s hottest trends!

Some of the most important advice I give my clients, that’s good all year long, is to be “current” with how they dress and how they present their unique personal brand. When it comes to trends, that means enjoying one or two trends per season as complements to their style. One or two items can totally refresh a wardrobe for the new season!

For the Ladies

Spring 2018’s freshest looks are uplifting, colorful, and fun clothes that can only make us feel happy! The 80s are inspiring the power-dressing trend, and we are seeing strong silhouettes again.

• • • Pastels • • •

This season’s pastels can be pretty and powerful! The big news: lilac—everything from a suit to a handbag to slides. Just select the pastel that works in your palette, as lilac will not be best if you have warmer coloring.

• • • Shoes • • •

Comfort is in, stilettos are on hold (for a minute).

  • Clunky trainers: We all love investing in the best trainers out there, although for 2018, clunkier is better. We are seeing a lot of bright whites!
  • Kitten heels: This is a heel that is under 2 inches and tapered (not chunky). Try a fun print or a color that will pop! Great for work and play, from dresses to a cropped jean.

• • • Florals and Dots • • •

Summer wouldn’t be summer without a sea of florals and pretty dressesmdash;and this season doesn’t disappoint. Also great is the playful vibe with polka-dots. Again, happy prints!

• • • Asymmetrical Styles • • •

These looks are all the rage and add an edge to any outfit. Skirts are particularly popular right now!

• • • Accessories • • •

Jewelry choices are more distinct and personal, and often tell a story about the wearer.

  • Pendant necklaces
  • Layered, gold hoops of all sizes
  • Statement rings

For the Gentlemen

Congratulations, men—if you’re here, you’re paying more attention to your appearance! Your wardrobe may be an eclectic mix of timeless classics, ripped jeans, and 80s concert T-shirts, and maybe that works for your intentional personal brand. But if you’re wondering how to step up your appearance this spring and summer, follow me while I help you separate the good from the ghastly.

    • • • Checks • • •

Checks never really went away, but they are super hot this season, especially gingham. If you’re going to rock checks, just remember to tone down the rest of your outfit to avoid sending a “busy signal.”

    • • • Dad Denim • • •

Just when you thought skinny jeans had conquered the denim industry, 2018 blessed men with the gift of leg circulation.

    • Loose fitting
    • Light wash
    • Straight leg
    • Cropped or rolled

    • • • Bomber Jacket • • •

As a nice lightweight summer jacket, the bomber is perfect for a business-casual work environment or those summer nights when the temps cool off. The right jacket will keep your ensemble at an A+!
